Ganpati Bapa

A very unique, reverent Idol of Lord Ganesha adorns the forefront of Life building which has no gate, signifying warm welcome and blessings to visitors and passers-by with constant chanting of Lord Ganesha Mantra round the clock. The distinctive idol with right curling trunk has an interesting history.

In designing stage, the idea was equivocally conceived to adorn the vestibule with a monument radiating peace, harmony, happiness and success. Ganesh ji, revered across the world as the benefactor of auspicious beginnings, accomplishments and achievements and as the eliminator of all obstacles, was the natural choice. The design was inspired by a rare picture of Ganeshji in an archaic page found in Hyderabad. Being of enormous dimensions, the idol was made from Fiberglass with stone finish since marble or stone structure would not have been practical. The sculpture is 90 inches tall standing on 72 inches high base, weighs 270 kgs and was created by three artisans in 216 days, putting in 765 man-hours, supported by six assisting artisans who devoted 1080 man-hours in the project. A very strange coincidence is in the numbers above as each add up to total 9, the number acclaimed universally as the complete, divine and sacred number that brings peace, success, harmony and good fortune. The idol was designed by Dr. I. S. Mathur, Ex Director of the prestigious National Insitute of Design, Ahmedabad. Shri Nilkanth Khanvilkar, Director at Sir J J School of Arts, Mumbai, his son Shreyas and their team created the iconic idol. The Ganeshji at ‘Life’ has right curling trunk signifying abundant positivity and divine bliss for everyone, blessing success, serenity and good fortune for all. Passersby and those entering the building ardently vouch for the positive vibes they feel as they face the idol and offer their prayer, experiencing a deep sense of well-being and sanctity. The mighty presence of Lord Ganesha has miraculously nurtured and energized Project ‘Life’ since its modest inception in 1978 to its present magnitude with eight major interventions aimed singularly to support, sustain and enrich lives. The humanitarian crusade is eternally blessed with the presence of Ganeshji bestowing his heavenly blessings for phenomenal success and achievement in the service to mankind.
