The enterprising Gujarati is
everywhere. Visit any foreign land, however remote, you will almost surely find
a Gujarati settled there. The hardworking, enthusiastic and the entrepreneurial
Gujarati spirit is extremely adaptable.
The Gujarati settled abroad is a
living testimony of what courage, wisdom and vision can accomplish. The
presence of a Gujarati benefits every nation that has welcomed the global
Gujarati.
And yet, wherever they are,
Gujaratis never forget their roots. Their emotional bond with the land from
where they first rose gets only stronger with time.
A Gujarati may be settled in
Texas or Travancore, Mauritius or Mumbai, Dar-es-Salaam to Diu…the spirit is
the same. And that's what binds each of them, wherever they may be.
It is to strengthen this bond,
celebrate this spirit and take this relationship to a higher plane, that the
six Non-Resident Gujaratis (NRG) centers were established by the government of
Gujarat. Project 'Life' is proud to be one of the chosen six and the only NGO.
The NRG center aims to seek
common interests, reinforce historical ties and build a bridge between the
Gujaratis living abroad (or even in some other state within India) and the
Gujaratis living within the state. This center will facilitate forming of all
forms of mutually beneficial partnerships and enhancing the feeling of oneness
between all Gujaratis.
The vision of NRG center is to
support creating a world-class Gujarat by optimal utilization of knowledge,
skills and experience of the global Gujarati. It will assist each to Gujarati
play a vital role in the development of the state of Gujarat and create
opportunities for everyone to benefit from and contribute to.
